Smart Sand digs up and processes sand that oil and gas companies use in hydraulic fracturing, a process that injects liquid and sand into wells to release oil and natural gas. The company mines the sand, processes it, and handles the logistics of getting it to drilling sites in the United States and Canada. Smart Sand also rents out equipment called SmartSystems that helps manage sand and other materials at wellsites, and provides portable storage solutions for these operations.
