New Fortress Energy buys natural gas, converts it into liquefied natural gas (LNG, a compressed form that is easier to transport), and delivers it to customers around the world. The company operates ports and power plants, mostly in Puerto Rico and Mexico, where it receives LNG shipments and converts them back to gas to generate electricity. It also owns and leases specialized ships that store and transport liquefied natural gas to places that need reliable power but lack direct access to natural gas pipelines.
