Inspire Medical Systems makes an implanted device that treats obstructive sleep apnea, a condition where people's airways collapse during sleep and interrupt their breathing. The device, called the Inspire system, uses mild electrical stimulation of a nerve in the throat to keep the airway open while the patient sleeps.
