AXT manufactures the crystalline materials that go into semiconductors used in fiber optic communications, wireless networks, and light-based technologies. The company produces indium phosphide, gallium arsenide, and germanium substrates, which are thin slices of material that form the foundation for components in data centers, 5G networks, infrared sensors, and autonomous vehicle lidar systems. These substrates also go into everyday devices like Wi-Fi equipment, LEDs, and solar cells. AXT sells to manufacturers around the world through its own sales team and distribution partners.
