AES owns and operates power plants that generate electricity and utility companies that distribute it to customers. The company generates power using solar, wind, hydro, gas, coal, and other sources, and sells that electricity to homes, businesses, factories, and other utilities. AES operates power generation facilities and distribution networks across the United States and in about a dozen countries in Latin America, Europe, and Asia. The company serves approximately 2.7 million customers and operates roughly 34,740 megawatts of generating capacity.
